For fun

Authors, books, and shows

I am lucky to come across several books written by female authors that I love and would love to re-read:

Love Malcolm Gladwell and his book titled Outlier

Love Susan Cain and her book titled Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking

I also really enjoy reading Matthew Perry's recent memoir and am amazed by how good he is in terms of describing a lived experience of being funny and in pain.  (Update on 11/10/2023: So sad to hear the news about Matthew Perry's death).

I love the sitcom Frasier mainly because the show is aligned with my personal interest in psychodynamics. For the same reason, enjoy reading Irvin Yalom's books (although not fully connecting to some of his philosophical orientations).

Hope to be able to understand books written by Nobel Laureate Mo Yan

Free time

When I was a kid, I read the book Pippi Longstocking and wanted to be someone like Pippi, who is friendly and independent and dares to be different. She was my childhood heroine. Now, I hope my daughter can be Pippi.

Love travels and enjoy exploring different cultures to help me understand the origin of diverse perceptions and interpretations of human behaviors.

Love to learn drawing and hope I can compete with my daughter anytime soon. Left is my daughter's drawing at the age of 4. Right is my copycat drawing, which is not too shabby.
